Hmm, is that because you dislike paperbacks in general, or just because it's so long that a hardback would be more convenient?
I do in general prefer hardbacks, but I read paperbacks as well. In this case, I read it the first time in hardback and had such a clear image of it that way in my mind, and of course, it's such a long book that yes, a hardback is more convenient. : )
