I really enjoy Tristram Shandy in small doses! It can be fun and entertaining, but sometimes the authorial voice becomes too much for me. Backlisted podcast did a really interesting episode on it, if you'd like further background:

I'd also highly recommend the modern novel, "Confessions of the Fox" by Jordy Rosenberg, which is a queer modern pastiche of Tristram Shandy.
