When you mentioned Carmilla I wasn't sure what you meant at first, but when I looked it up I realised I read this book years ago (pre-teens, I think). I distinctly remember "Carmilla" and "Mircalla" :D and also just generally being kind of confused. I guess a large part of the story went right over my head. I should read it again!
