OK, I'm ordering this. I've come across one or two real turkeys of hers, which have put me off reading the whole oeuvre, but this seems to be one of the good 'uns. I like your insight into what makes her good writing so powerful - I wasn't sure whether it was just because I liked it on a personal level. But the poet Patricia Beer felt the same way about it, and a poet should know when words work.
