I don't think I've ever read a school story set in a boys' school -- I suppose because my primary interest is the Sapphic relationships in girls' school stories -- but this sounds like a really good place to start, as I know I like Hornung! This is a great review -- interesting critique re. empire, and appealing description of the characters!
