A little off-topic, but re the beginning of the year: that adds some further context to where Navigatio Britannica (1750) places a leap day in the calendar. I had no idea England was still using a March new year as late as the 1752, and now I'm wondering if I should go back through Navigatio Britannica's calendar chapter to see if I was only assuming that it started the calendar in January...
