That is a good point! Yes, when you put it that way it is a striking similarity—interesting too that it goes nowhere here, and in Flemington it goes further but not as far as it could have done. Looking it up I see that Flemington was Jacob's last novel—pity she didn't go on writing more, then they might have got even slashier over time... :P
