regshoe: A Jacobite white rose (White rose)
[personal profile] regshoe
Oh dear, I was going to make a nice sensible post about my Flight of the Heron Wikipedia research this evening, but I haven't got the brain space for it. I think it's going to have to wait. In the meantime, look look look:

I may or may not have watched the trailer several times trying to figure out which part of the book each clip corresponds to. It looks great (OK, apart from the lack of height difference, but I can forgive them for that) and so much fun.

And there are reviews!

Kidnapped review – razzle-dazzling Robert Louis Stevenson (The Guardian)

‘Kidnapped’ (National Theatre of Scotland) | Review By Lewis C. Baird (Theatre Scotland)

Review: KIDNAPPED, Theatre Royal, Glasgow (Broadway World)

(Also reviews from The Stage and The Times, but those are paywalled).

The reviews are very good and they reveal such cool things about it :D It sounds as though it's more of a panto-style use of existing music rather than a musical as such, which will be interesting, and the staging looks very fun. And look at those pictures!

Ooh, and there's this (download link), in which the writer discusses the inspiration for the show. Apart from the obvious stuff, I am also intrigued by the role they're giving Frances Stevenson—I must find out more about her story and her contribution to the book.

...I still can't quite believe this is actually happening. Canon Alan/Davie. What can you say???
