regshoe: A. J. Raffles, leaning back with a straw hat tilted over his face (Raffles)
First posted on Tumblr, but I think this is a better place to keep it!

Part 2; Part 3

This is a complete chronology of the Raffles stories. All of the dates are at least reasonable extrapolations from clues present in the stories, but many of the dates can't be fixed exactly, and there is a degree of subjective judgement involved, especially in resolving the definite contradictions in canon. Parts 2 and 3 explain how I worked it all out.

Feel free to point out any mistakes or argue over my interpretations!

Thanks to The Annotated A.J. Raffles and Crossroads of the Curious—the only other chronologies I'm aware of—for providing corroboration, and to Raffles Redux for the publication dates of the stories.

Part 1; Part 3

This post explains the relevant canon references to dates and how I put them together into a timeline. It isn't in chronological order—because some dates are inferred from other dates, there's a necessary logical order to working out how they fit together that doesn't follow chronological order, hence why this post had to be separate from the timeline itself.

I've used Holmes-style four-letter abbreviations for the story titles, since this post is quite long enough without writing them out in full. Here's a list in case they're not obvious.

E. W. Hornung never did anything as egregious as making it June on one page and October three pages later in the same scene, but there are nevertheless a few difficulties in working out the timeline of the Raffles stories.
