Learning a new language, possibly especially a highly inflected language like Greek, teaches you a lot about grammar in general. Ιt's very useful and interesting, but the main conclusions I've come to so far are that English has too many verb tenses and the rules for when to use them make no sense. Like, I have a native speaker's intuitive grasp of which tenses to use when, but there are so many of them and so many complications that I could not explain the rules if I tried.
