Date: Dec. 2nd, 2020 06:06 pm (UTC)I've enjoyed some of Le Fanu's other gothic short stories, but nothing else is anywhere near Carmilla so far. Always a bit disappointing to realise you've read an author's best work first, but I suppose it's well-known for a reason!
Yeah, I know what you mean—I do find that the immediate emotions of reading a book get less strong with re-reading, but on the other hand I remember more about it, and really getting to know all the details of JSMN was something I wanted to do. And I don't think the magic has worn out really—I love it more than ever <3
