regshoe: The Uffington White Horse: a chalk figure of a horse made on a hillside (White horse)

Reminder that the Flight of the Heron read-along starts this weekend, with the Prologue!

Meanwhile, Yuletide nominations are open and I'm trying to decide what to nominate. I think I'm definitely going to nominate Jill and A Glass of Blessings, but am dithering over the third slot. There are a couple of other books I've read this year that I'd like fic for, but then there's also Flight of the Heron, and then there are ballads...

I'm excited about the new option to nominate Worldbuilding! It may influence my choices, actually—it seems a bit of a shame to nominate all real-world-set fandoms and miss out on the opportunity to nominate worldbuilding for speculative ones. (Might Worldbuilding be meaningful for canons set in the real world?—exploring how the characters/plot fit into the wider historical context, for instance?). Then again, Flight of the Heron, while not fantasy as such, certainly presents opportunities for worldbuilding with the prophecy and the canonical existence of fate. Hmm. I wrote for Flight of the Heron last year but didn't request it, and perhaps this year I could request it, with some worldbuilding prompts? Also I hope someone nominates worldbuilding for JSMN and/or Piranesi!

In previous years I've avoided signing up for Femslash Exchange because of the overlap with Yuletide, but this year I've decided that I really want some femslash and so I'm going to try and do both. I'm excited! I have nominated a few obscure book pairings, including Jill again—I'm slightly worried about being swamped by big fandoms in an exchange with no rarity focus, but there are a few other things already in the tagset that I know. We shall see how it goes...

This comment is making me laugh so much, because I keep thinking of a Harlequin romance novel cover for this book--it would be *very* suitable, and once you read the whole thing, I think you'll agree... ;)

I just flipped open a random page and loudly recited what I found to my spouse on the phone-- with a pretty appalling fake Scottish accent, haha. (Btw, it's this cover.)

Oh, that's a rather bland cover, it really says nothing about the book, right? Unlike this one, haha... it's really something! XD

It's so funny and OTT! XD The two characters are like: "OMG look, a heron!", while the heron is calmly flying along (and possibly thinking "I ship it!")

Heron: "God, not again, lads! Cut the dramatics, and just get it on!"
