Hurt/Comfort Exchange authors have been revealed! My Jill gift was by [personal profile] edwardianspinsteraunt, who was also my recip—she guessed my fic but I did not guess hers, which is perhaps slightly embarrassing, but never mind :D And my Flight of the Heron gift was by [personal profile] philomytha, who fooled me by saying during the read-along that she probably wouldn't write FotH fic and then cunningly writing it after all :D Anyway, thank you both very much—they are two excellent gifts, and it's brilliant to see both fic for Jill and another new writer in FotH fandom. :)

And I wrote this story, for [personal profile] edwardianspinsteraunt:

A Propitious Season of Living (6956 words) by regshoe
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Becky/Sara Crewe
Characters: Becky (A Little Princess), Sara Crewe
Additional Tags: Post-Canon, Pre-Relationship, Hurt/Comfort, Class Issues, Bedside Vigils, Comforter reads to hurt character
Summary:

Sara and Becky have left the cruelties and hardships of Miss Minchin's for a happier life, but the past still has consequences for Becky.

I had a lovely time writing Sara and Becky, who are an adorable pairing and presented many good opportunities for hurt/comfort—especially, I found, in combination with [personal profile] edwardianspinsteraunt's ideas about exploring the class issues of canon. Knowing that [personal profile] edwardianspinsteraunt likes rural settings, I decided to send them off to a particularly scenic part of the countryside which I visited a few years ago, which was also very good fun.

:D :D Thank you again for the lovely fic, and for giving me the chance to write for a new fandom-- I really enjoyed writing about Jill and Kitty and giving them a more hopeful ending than in canon!

Ha, I thought the Little Princess fic sounded like you! It was all the gorgeous scenery descriptions and the reading aloud that clued me in :-D

Ooh, neat! I've never read fic for A Little Princess, but I read the book at least twice as a kid and really enjoyed it. I will have to take a look. :D
