Yes, I suppose shorter fics are easier to read, whether for reasons of time/energy or investment in the fandom! If I order by comments rather than kudos then 'A Grimly Ghost' and 'The Sun of the Mind' are at numbers 4 and 5, so longer fics do seem to get disproportionately more comments—probably because of people leaving separate comments on multiple chapters.
