And I always like reading about places I know little about, and learning about lesser known moments taken from big historical events! It's a nice, interesting way to tell a story!
I think Mr Salt (even with all his flaws) is one of Broster's most fun and eccentric characters, and it was definitely awesome to see La Vireville--it's interesting to see a link between her different books, and I also noticed how both La Vireville and Ewen change from main to side characters. And of course, it was great to "see" Raymonde too, even if only in letter/boat shape... but I won't lie, I kind of feel like we were robbed of knowing all about her further and exciting adventures!
I'm eager to see what you think about "A Fire of Driftwood"! No spoilers, but I felt that some of the stories were very typically Broster-ish, and some others...well, definitely weren't. It was a nice, interesting change, and I think that "something a bit different but equally good" perfectly sums it up...
