regshoe: A Jacobite white rose (White rose)

I've been working on this for a while, and here it is at long last—the Flight of the Heron/White Cockades crossover! This was brilliant fun to write—I do like these slashy Jacobite adventure novels very much—and the crossover plot ended up making for a very interesting situation to put the characters in.

This fic does not require familiarity with White Cockades to understand, but does contain spoilers for it.

This is my longest fic to date (the third story this year to be so—I'm developing), and I am annoyed by that wordcount! I considered adding an extra 55 words somewhere, but decided doing so deliberately wouldn't be playing fair. Perhaps next time... ;D

Yay, congrats! *\O/*
I can totally relate to that word count feeling! ♥ About ten years ago I was firmly convinced that my limit for a story was about 5k, and only if the inspiration, pairing, writing time and moon phases were right or whatnot. Then various things happened, a combination of new fandom, different motivation, new people and new challenges and so on, and a year later I was doing and winning a full-scale NaNo and have evey year since, and more. But I never stopped being proud about any new writing benmark reached, word-count-wise or other, and I find it super cool that "writing" really works like training other muscle groups, in a way. *g* Go you for the next one, which likely will easily cross that threshold!
